WASHINGTON – Arcweld Industries Inc., won the “Urban Employer of the Year” award in recognition of its commitment to apprenticeship and workforce development at Apprentice Manitoba’s 11th annual Apprenticeship Awards of Distinction gala on November 2. Arcweld Industries is a full-service construction company specializing in on-site welding, structural steel and miscellaneous metal erection.
Arcweld Industries Inc. has been a major contributor to building and development of Manitoba’s landscape for over 30 years. It is a diligent supporter of the ironworkers and welders. The company works tirelessly to support apprentices and ensure constant progression of the apprenticeship program at the Iron Workers (IW) Local 728 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The founders of the company Ron and Linda Cwiak have served on ironworker and welder Provincial Advisory Committees and IW Local 728’s Joint Apprenticeship Committee, contributing time and material for training. They have been strong supporters of the IW Outstanding Apprentice Competition since its inception. Ron serves on the panel of judges for the welding competition. They have been an integral part of Ironworker Management Progressive Action Cooperative Trust’s (IMPACT) Western Canada Regional Advisory Board (RAB). They participate in trade fairs and travel across North America showing their support for the IW apprenticeship program.
“Ron and Linda have been more than influential in the growth of tomorrow’s industry leaders and the Red Seal apprenticeship programs for ironworkers and welders owe them a wealth of gratitude for their tireless and diligent participation throughout the years,” said Barry Chetyrbok, president of the IW Local 728. “I cannot thank them enough for their commitment, enthusiasm and continued support of our training and education programs. I can think of no one more deserving of the honor of being named Employer of the Year.”
