Washington, D.C. (August 1, 2019)—Today, at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time on the Association of Equipment Manufacturer’s (AEM) Facebook page or at imakeamerica.org/usmca, you canwatch Vice President of the United States, Mike Pence, deliver remarks on the importance of ratifying the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) in front of more than 1,000 Manitowoc employees in Shady Grove, Pennsylvania.  

Vice President Pence will tour The Manitowoc Company’s manufacturing facility before speaking to the employees about the benefits of the USMCA to the industry and to communities across the country. AEM has been a leading voice in the fight to ratify the USMCA and has been hosting events at equipment manufacturing facilities across the country to highlight their belief in the importance of the agreement to the 1.3 million men and women of our industry. AEM has also called on Congress to ratify the trilateral agreement immediately.

The USMCA updates and modernizes NAFTA, the tri-lateral trade agreement between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. According to the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), ratifying the USMCA will create 176,000 U.S. jobs and add more than $68 billion to the U.S. economy, and the agreement will also secure access to our two largest export markets and ensure North America’s manufacturing competitiveness well into the future.
