Full day event takes place October 2, 2012
WASHINGTON,D.C. (Aug. 10, 2012) - The law firm of Ober|Kaler is pleased to announce the seventh annual Women in Construction Conference, to be held on October 2, 2012 at the Georgetown University Hotel and Conference Center in Washington, DC.
Cathy L. Lanier , Chief of the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia, joins the conference this year as the keynote speaker.
Co-founded by Ober|Kaler's Barbara Werther, a construction litigation attorney for over 30 years, and Barbara Wagner, Executive VP at Clark Construction, the mission of the Women in Construction Conference is to provide an avenue for younger women to learn from those who are "more seasoned" and to offer networking and mentoring opportunities to all attendees. Every year 150-200 women and men attend the full-day event, from law firms, consulting companies, construction companies, trade associations, non-profits, engineering firms and architecture firms across the US and Canada.
"Last year's Women in Construction Conference was a great success," said Barbara Werther. "The diversity in age, experience and background of our participants is what makes the conference so dynamic and so relevant. The interaction is energizing. Our participants are incredibly loyal as well. Many have been attending since we started the event in 2006."
This year's conference will feature panels and breakout sessions on a variety of topics, including:
It's a Brave New World: The ABCs of Development in a Post- (or Nearly Post-) Recession Economy
Survival of the Fittest: Tools for Adapting in Today's Evolving Workplace
Traps for the Unwary: Avoiding e-Discovery Pitfalls and Controlling Costs in Construction Litigation
Work/Life Balance: You Can Have It All But Can You Have It All At Once?
The full agenda can be accessed at http://tinyurl.com/wic-agenda. Cost of registration is $75 per person and includes lunch and the post-conference networking cocktail reception.
