FieldLens is a construction software solution and app that allows general contractors and subcontractors alike to stay on top of all the project-related information that is critical to completing daily tasks on time and effectively. The app offers plan sharing, messaging, daily reports, punchlist records and photo storage. “FieldLens serves all types and sizes of contractors and all areas of construction. The problems of communication are universal in construction—whether you’re building a bridge, a high-rise, a single-family home or a retail store,” said Kelly Lignos Ziv, marketing and public relations manager for FieldLens. How do I get it? FieldLens is available for download on iOS and Android operating platforms, as well as a Web application. How does it work? Project team members download FieldLens onto their mobile device, and then are able to start managing projects right away. New users will experience a brief tutorial demonstrating how to create and manage projects in FieldLens. Users are able to manage an unlimited number of projects, and each is organized into a project newsfeed showing all of the latest communication as it happens. Each project uses industry standard language to indicate what's being communicated: Observations, Tasks, Safety and Deficiencies. When a FieldLens item is created, it can be shared with the whole project team, one or more companies or just specific people. FieldLens users can communicate with anyone via email right from the FieldLens app—it doesn’t matter if the other people on the project are FieldLens users. Items can be created using text, voice notes, voice-to-text notes, photos, videos, live weather, drawing markups, photo markups and more. The FieldLens reporting feature gives users the ability to create instant, professional reports right from their phone. FieldLens also recently released FieldLens Drawings with LiveLayer, a feature allowing users to view tasks, punch list items, observations, reports, safety issues and more in real time, layered right over their drawings. FieldLens is interoperable with Bluebeam, Revit and Navisworks, and will be introducing a supported API this fall to help project communication be as seamless as possible. Why do I need it? Construction business owner success is made or broken based on what happens in the field, and mistakes due to communication breakdowns are often the difference between a profitable project versus a project that loses money. FieldLens lets everyone on the project team know exactly what’s happening, when it’s happening. By using FieldLens, team members can create and view project reports in minutes, rather than hours or even days as is commonly the case. FieldLens gives instant, data-driven insight into what is happening in the field so that problems can be addressed before they escalate. How much does it cost?
