You get a contract! And you get a contract! It’s been a busy couple of weeks in terms of construction contracts. Here are two projects in particular that you should watch:
- In Texas, Kiewit subsidiary Mass. Electric Construction has entered an early contractor involvement agreement with Texas Central to determine the scope of work and the project cost for the $20 billion bullet train project that will connect Dallas to Houston. Texas Central expects the project could begin as soon as early 2020 if it gets federal approval.
- The design-build consortium behind the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel expansion in Virginia has announced its interest in working with small, disadvantaged and minority-owned businesses on the project. Hampton Road Connector Partners and the Virginia Department of Transportation are currently completing the design phase of the $3.9 billion project. The public-private partnership said it hopes to award 12% of construction contracts to disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) contractors and 20% of its contracts to small, women and minority-owned (SWaM) contractors. Project officials expect construction to start June 2020. Click here to find out more.
