Eighty-Four, Pennsylvania (Sept. 4, 2019)—84 Lumber partnered with “Good Morning America” this week to give a special surprise to the founder of “Sleep in Heavenly Peace,” a nonprofit that builds top-quality bunk beds for children in need across the country. During yesterday’s airing of “Strahan, Sara and Keke,” Luke Mickelson, the nonprofit’s founder, was presented with a $10,000 check from 84 Lumber to purchase building materials for new beds.
“’Sleep in Heavenly Peace’ is a unique organization that provides an often-overlooked essential that many children don’t have,” said Maggie Hardy, president of 84 Lumber. “We greatly respect their mission and are honored to make this donation to help them continue their tremendous work.”
Mickelson founded “Sleep in Heavenly Peace” in 2012 after learning about local families whose children were sleeping on the floor. What began as an act of kindness has since grown into a movement. Today, the organization has close to 200 trained chapters across the country and has built more than 22,000 beds.
This isn’t the first time that 84 Lumber has supported the nonprofit. Last May, the company’s East Syracuse, New York, store partnered with “Future Farmers of America” to build 20 beds for the Syracuse chapter.
