NORTH AMERICA (July 5, 2016) - Caterpillar announced the extension and further expansion of its fuel consumption guarantee and a parts availability guarantee, both bundled with telematics solutions. This program, Cat Pays You Back, supports the advances in product technology from Caterpillar. Caterpillar wants to help customers overcome these challenges with a special three-part purchase offer.
“Even at lower per gallon prices, fuel still represents up to 50 percent of our customers’ operating costs,” said Jason Hurdis, senior market professional. “The Cat Pays You Back bundled solutions offer has been very successful in reducing our customers’ pain points with an aggressive fuel consumption guarantee, parts guarantee and benchmark fleet analysis. The good results have led to requests from our customers and dealers to extend the program beyond June 30, 2016. We have done just that and extended the solution to the end of the year—and we took it to the next level by including even more Caterpillar models.”
Caterpillar is the only manufacturer to guarantee fuel consumption rates for more than 160 new machines. The ongoing investment in research and development and the information we provide about the impact fuel has on operating costs, help empower customers to focus on the fundamentals. Cat Fuel Consumption Guarantee
The Fuel Consumption Guarantee Program uses Cat Product Link to monitor the average fuel consumption rate of machines enrolled in the program. If the average fuel burn rate of a program machine exceeds the Caterpillar Guaranteed Fuel Consumption Level for that particular model, customers receive 1 USD/gallon or 1 CAD/liter credit on a Cat Commercial Account Card. Customers can earn credits on enrolled machines for a period of three years or 5,000 hours whichever comes first. The program provides customers with:
- Average year-to-date fuel consumption Machine Status Reports emailed quarterly
- Annual payouts of 1 USD/gallon or 1 CAD/liter. Credits are provided following the end of the calendar year (Jan.-Dec.).
EMSolutions Fleet Reports
Cat EMSolutions helps customers turn telematics into a competitive advantage. An EMSolutions Fleet Report is a monthly fleet management report delivered electronically to customers enrolled in EMSolutions Level 2, which is included on machines enrolled in the purchase offer program. The Fleet Report leverages the data captured from Cat Product Link connected assets and provides a visual monthly snapshot of customer fleet parameters. Working with the local dealer, a customer will be able to manage equipment and utilization trends compared to regional benchmarks. Customers may be able to reduce operating costs by monitoring factors such as operator induced fault codes, run time, fuel burn and idles time. Taking action based on fleet reports has achieved positive results. In a recent online survey, owners reported that tracking data increased utilization by as much as 20 percent.
Parts Availability Guarantee
The Caterpillar distribution system and dealer network work diligently to keep customer downtime to an absolute minimum by getting parts delivered as quickly as possible. A world class logistics organization, Cat Logistics uses complex algorithms to predict parts demand and optimize shipping a delivery. Caterpillar reports better than 99.4 percent of parts orders are on the shelf of either Cat Dealers or the Caterpillar network can be on their way to customers in 24 hours or less.
While we recognize that not all parts are needed by customers right away, when they are, the Parts Availability Guarantee components of the purchase offer includes:
- Parts ordered on the Caterpillar network will be available for the customer within 24 hours of the shipping cost is free.
- Once a customer is qualified, the Parts Availability Guarantee will be applied to the customer’s entire fleet of construction equipment.
