SCHAUMBURG, IL (March 31, 2017) — The Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI) has released an updated version of its standard, Supports for Reinforcement Used in Concrete (ANSI/CRSI RB4.1 2016). This mandatory-language document that has been adopted in the ACI 301 Specification and is appropriate for citation in project specifications. Performance requirements have been added to the new edition in which rated load capacities are assigned to a reinforcement support, based on the ability of the support to meet minimum requirements of load test, impact test, water absorption criteria and concrete consolidation test.
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited the Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI) as a Standards Development Organization (SDO) in April 2013. The scope of CRSI’s standards activities includes the development and maintenance of consensus standards for design, detailing, fabrication, placement and construction of assemblies consisting of steel reinforcement and associated products used in concrete and masonry construction.
