GPS Insight sponsors group that breaks Guinness Book of World Records for "Fastest Time Cross Country in an Electric Vehicle"

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. (April 29, 2015) – GPS Insight sponsored a team of three record-breaking enthusiasts as they attempted to break the Guinness Book of World Records for fastest time coast to coast in an electric vehicle and the least amount of non-drive time. Rod Hawk, Deena Mastracci and Carl Reese drove a 2015 Tesla Model S P85D from Los Angeles City Hall on Thursday, April 16th to New York City Hall on Sunday, April 19th in 58 hours 55 minutes, setting the new record which was previously held by Edmonds.com. They also beat the record for least amount of non-drive time at 12 hours and 48 minutes. GPS Insight was used by the team as third party verification of their location and time. The GPS tracking software tracked the Tesla across the US, recording its route in real-time. Guinness Book of World Records requires that GPS tracking technology be used in instances such as this for further proof that the records are beaten. Ryan Driscoll, director of marketing for GPS Insight, stated, “When the opportunity was presented to support Carl Reese and his team as their third party verification for the record setting event, we just had to say yes. We are proud of them for beating the two records and are happy to have been involved.” For more information about the fleet tracking company, visit GPS Insight.
