ATLANTA (July 11, 2024) — KAI announce the grand opening of its new office located just east of Downtown Atlanta at 659 Auburn Avenue. This strategic relocation to the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood near Inman Park signifies KAI's robust growth trajectory and commitment to deepening its engineering-focused practice in Atlanta's dynamic landscape.
“KAI’s new office located adjacent to the Atlanta Beltline, one of the largest, most wide-ranging urban redevelopment programs in the U.S. with its parks, trails and affordable housing, represents more than just a change of address; it is a bold step towards a future filled with innovation, growth and community engagement,” said KAI CEO Michael B. Kennedy. “KAI’s focus in Atlanta will be providing quality, technically complex MEP engineering services directly to clients and industry partners.”
As a minority-owned firm, KAI delivers comprehensive services in MEPFP engineering, construction management, architecture and interior design, and general contracting. The move is a pivotal component of KAI’s growth strategy aimed at expanding its footprint and project portfolio within the Atlanta core.
“Our new Atlanta office marks a momentous milestone for KAI,” said Kennedy. “With over two decades of dedicated service in Georgia, this strategic move represents a significant step in our commitment to expanding our presence in the region. By positioning ourselves in the heart of Atlanta, we are better equipped to accommodate our growth and continue delivering on our promise of excellence, especially as we take on increasingly significant projects such as our ongoing work at the Hartsfield–Jackson Airport, Atlanta Housing Authority, and the Atlanta Fulton County Tom Lowe Water Treatment Plant. This new location not only reflects our dedication to our clients but also underscores our investment in the vibrant Atlanta community and reinforces our long-term commitment to the region.”
Formalizing its Atlanta presence in 2012, KAI further expanded its regional influence in 2018 through the acquisition of Atlanta-based Dorsey Engineering, a firm with clients such as Home Depot, Macy’s, Caterpillar, Siemens, Atlanta Public Schools, and Johnson & Johnson.
In alignment with its expansion goals, KAI plans to add to its national family of 160 employees and increase its Atlanta team to over 25 engineers at its new office in the Studio Plex complex, a 100-year-old industrial loft.
