WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (April 6, 2015)—The Steel Erectors Association of America (SEAA) announced that it will offer low or no-cost training and credentials to pre-registered craft professionals during its 43rd Annual National Convention and Trade Show, to be held April 23-25, 2015 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Other education sessions are designed to give owners and management personnel valuable insight into key business issues facing steel erectors, steel fabricators, or engineers, crane suppliers and contractors working in structural steel erection. As an NCCER Accredited Training Sponsor and Accredited Assessment Center, SEAA will offer Ironworker Assessment exams during the convention for just $75. SEAA offers a complete series of journey-level written assessments as part of its National Craft Assessment and Certification Program. “After successful completion of the written assessment, an individual’s qualifications are tracked through NCCER’s national registry,” said Tim Eldridge, president of Education Services Unlimited in Mount Holly, North Carolina. “We encourage employers to take this chance to see how the NCCER Ironworker Assessment can help you evaluate employees’ knowledge levels, identify training gaps and develop a training prescription.” Additionally, trainers from LPR Construction, Buckner Companies, and Education Services Unlimited are volunteering to present NCCER Certified Plus Training for Signal Persons for $100 each. The program consists of a two-hour review, written assessment and practical exam that meets or exceeds ASME B30 standards and OSHA 29 CFR part 1926 subpart CC. Finally, in partnership with United Academy and United Rentals, individuals who operate aerial work platform boom lifts can receive free training and certification using United Academy’s curriculum. Upon completion of the Boom Lift Training, individuals will be able demonstrate knowledge and proficiency of key functions, safety systems, pre-use inspection, limitations and hazards, as well as safe operating procedures. Individuals participating in any of the craft training or assessments activities must be registered to attend the 43rd National SEAA Convention and Trade Show. The SEAA Convention offers management education sessions, field training opportunities, more than 50 exhibitors at the trade show and a keynote address by Terry Bowden, collegiate football coach and TV sports analyst.
