NEW YORK (January 3, 2018) – Dodge Data & Analytics has been awarded a multi-year contract to continue providing data for United States Construction Projects Started to the U.S. Department of Commerce Census Bureau. The Dodge projects are a key input to the Nonresidential Construction Spending forecast that tracks the monthly value of Construction Put in Place. Each month, the Census Bureau samples projects from the Dodge universe of newly started projects to survey builders regarding the amount of work completed on their projects during the prior month, and continues to survey them each month until construction is completed.
From these surveys of the Dodge projects, the Census Bureau develops its estimates of the value of national nonresidential construction spending, which in turn contribute to the calculations done each quarter by the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) to create the U.S. GDP figures.
“Dodge is very pleased to once again be awarded this multi-year contract with the Census Bureau. We are proud of our decades-long relationship with the Bureau and the contribution that our data makes to developing this important measure of such a key sector of the U.S. economy,” said Mike Petrullo, Chief Executive Officer, Dodge Data & Analytics.
