As part of efforts to focus on its core business, the Volvo Group has agreed to sell Volvo Rents to the US private equity firm Platinum Equity for $1.1 billion. Volvo Construction Equipment will continue to sell products to Volvo Rents under the new ownership.

WASHINGTON (November 25, 2013) — The Equipment Leasing and Finance Association’s (ELFA) Monthly Leasing and Finance Index (MLFI-25), which reports economic activity from 25 companies representing a cross section of the $827 billion equipment finance sector, showed their overall new business volume for October was $7.6 billion, unchanged from new business volume in October 2012.

WASHINGTON (November 19, 2013) – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) filed a request for an injunction in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia against an Aug. 27 rule from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) that drastically alters federal contractors’ existing affirmative action and nondiscrimination obligations for individuals with disabilities.
NEW YORK (November 19, 2013) – A spike in construction-related fatalities coupled with a looming labor shortage highlight the need for a renewed focus on safety and leadership within the construction industry, Marsh said in a new report. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), private construction sector deaths in the U.S. increased 5 percent to 775 in 2012, marking the first annual increase in work-related fatalities since 2006.
