MOLINE, Ill. (Aug. 24, 2015) – In March 1955, a group of 21 rental business owners from throughout the Midwest met in Moline, Illinois, to establish what is today the American Rental Association (ARA). As the fledging association continued through its first year, they made plans to meet for a “general convention of rental operators” the following January in Kansas City, Missouri. They decided if the convention was well received, they would hold it annually.

Association renames conference to reflect changes in the workforce

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (September 2, 2015) – The American Public Works Association (APWA) announced that major changes are in store for the annual conference and equipment show, which will be known as PWX beginning in 2016. The new PWX brand stands for “Public Works Expo,” which will replace the previous lengthy title, “International Public Works Congress & Exposition.”

The launch of PWX is part of APWA’s response to significant trends occurring in the workforce.
