ARLINGTON, Va. (Oct. 1, 2021) — Linbeck Group was honored for having the nation’s best construction safety and wellness plan in 2020 by the Associated General Contractors of America. The association, which oversees the Willis Towers Watson Construction Safety Excellence Awards, an annual ranking of construction safety programs, noted that 43 other companies were also selected as winners for the quality of their safety programs.

ARLINGTON, Va. (Sept. 29, 2021) — Nearly one-third of United States metro areas lost construction jobs between August 2020 and August 2021, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) of government employment data. Association officials noted that the job losses are occurring as the fate of a bipartisan infrastructure bill that would boost demand for construction remains uncertain in the U.S. House of Representatives.

WASHINGTON (Sept. 28, 2021) — When researchers at FMI Corporation first looked at design-build utilization in 2018, the news confirmed what many in the industry knew first-hand, design-build wasn't an "alternative delivery process" anymore. New market analysis forecasting the next five years, 2021-2025, shows that is especially true today as impressive design-build growth will continue, despite unprecedented COVID-19 challenges.

WASHINGTON (Sept. 27, 2021) — Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) has released the following statement in response to guidance issued by the Safer Federal Workforce Task Force about what is required of federal contractors with respect to a vaccine mandate for employees as a result of President Biden’s Executive Order 14042, Ensuring Adequate COVID Safety Protocols for Federal Contractors.

SAUK CENTRE, Minn. (Sept. 24, 2021) — Felling Trailers, Inc. conducted its ninth annual online auction of an FT-3 drop deck utility trailer to benefit a non-profit organization: the Minnesota Fire Fighters Foundation (MNFFF). A winning bid of $4850.99 won the auction that ended at 7 pm on the 20th-anniversary remembrance of 9/11, Saturday, Sept. 11th, 2021. The bid winner was Joe Kostreba of Sauk Centre, MN.

WASHINGTON (Sept. 24, 2021) — The Architecture Billings Index (ABI) recorded its seventh consecutive positive month, according to a new report from The American Institute of Architects (AIA).

HOUSTON (Sept. 14, 2021) — HCSS, the leading supplier of estimating, operations and fleet management software, has announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Thoma Bravo, a leading software investment firm. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2021. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Sept. 15, 2021)  — Jack Bowen, President of EMJ Corporation, has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer in addition to his current role. Burt Odom, EMJ's current CEO, will shift to the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors. 

This transition will take place on October 1, and is part of EMJ's strategic approach to executive succession, which is designed to develop and sustain strong leaders and ensure its success for years to come.
