The Unites States Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will hold its annual National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls May 7th-11th. Advanced technologies, such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), are rapidly gaining traction on infrastructure projects around the world. A new report published today, The Business Value of BIM for Water Projects SmartMarket Report, demonstrates the industry is accelerating its implementation of BIM, a reversal of the findings of previous studies on this topic by Dodge Data & Analytics, which indicated that the water sector has been slower to embrace BIM than other sectors, such as transportation. Read the details here.

WASHINGTON (April 25, 2018) – The Equipment Leasing and Finance Association’s (ELFA) Monthly Leasing and Finance Index (MLFI-25), which reports economic activity from 25 companies representing a cross section of the $1 trillion equipment finance sector, showed their overall new business volume for March was $9.1 billion, up 2 percent year over year from new business volume in March 2017. Volume was up 18 percent month-to-month from $7.7 billion in February.

The Center for Association Leadership hasselected the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) for a Gold Circle Award, which recognizes excellence, innovation and achievement in association/nonprofit marketing, membership and communications programs. AEM is one of 14 Gold Circle Award honorees nationwide in 2018, winning for its CONEXPO-CON/AGG marketing campaign. ASAE noted that the outstanding quality of entries required judges to make tough choices to determine the Gold Circle Award winners.

WASHINGTON (April 19, 2018)—The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Committee on the Environment (COTE) announced this year’s recipients for its highest honor—the COTE Top Ten Awards. COTE bestows the award annually on 10 design projects that have expertly integrated design excellence with cutting-edge performance in several key areas.

 Green Building Council (USGBC), creators of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating system, announced significant streamlining for all LEED prerequisites and some credits for California projects that are pursuing certification under LEED v4. New projects built to California’s robust energy and green building codes (CALGreen) are pre-approved for significant streamlining of fundamental LEED requirements.

Representatives from Corvex Connected Safety, the first worker-powered Internet of Things (IoT) safety platform, announced that personal protective equipment (PPE) industry leader MCR Safety has joined the company’s strategic partner program. The Corvex Connected Safety Platform uses IoT infrastructure to create smart, connected work environments that engage and empower workers. The companies will collaborate to develop Smart PPE technology that integrates MCR Safety equipment with the Corvex solution.
