NATIONAL – Volvo Construction Equipment moves into a new dimension to assist customers in supplying spare parts, and as part of its commitment to the research and development of new products. As the construction industry looks to new methods for efficient production, equipment manufacturers are likewise exploring additional ways to boost productivity. Volvo CE has introduced 3-D printing in order to deliver spare parts to customers more quickly and efficiently.

NEWARK, N.J. (March 27, 2018) – PSEG Solar Source announced that its PSEG Cork Oak Solar Energy Center successfully began operations in December 2017.

The 26.2-megawatt (dc) facility has a 10-year power purchase agreement with Virginia Electric and Power Co. and is located about 90 miles northeast of Raleigh in Halifax, N.C. It is the third project PSEG Solar Source has developed in collaboration with BayWa r.e.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (March 23, 2018) – Liebherr, which has been manufacturing and operating in Newport News for over 48 years, invests $45 million in the expansion of its Newport News, Virginia, facility. The new expansion will include the construction of three new buildings on twenty-eight acres adjacent to the Liebherr’s current manufacturing facility. With this investment, Liebherr continues to grow its operations in the United States.

BROOKFIELD, Wis. (March 22, 2018) – Never Idle LLC and VeriTread for Business have announced a partnership to ensure Never Idle’s clients get the best logistics transportation option on equipment deliveries. The agreement allows Never Idle to use VeriTread For Business to arrange hassle-free transportation with trusted heavy haul operators while moving construction equipment between the owner and the renter or purchaser.

LA SARRE, Quebec (March 21, 2018) – Kenworth La Sarre has relocated to a new and larger 12,000-square-foot facility to enhance its support of truck operators and fleets in the mining, timber and agricultural industries in northwestern Quebec.

ST. LOUIS (March 20, 2018) – Western Specialty Contractors recently bid farewell to Chief Operating Officer (COO) Jim Rechtin Sr., who officially retired from the company after 46 years of dedicated service. Senior Vice President of Operations Tom Brooks has been promoted to replace Rechtin as COO.

MADISON, Wis. (March 19, 2018) — Miron Construction Co. Inc., in partnership with Zimmerman Architectural Studios Inc., recently began work to renovate and improve the University of Wisconsin-Madison Wisconsin Institute for Medical Research.

The 13,200-square-foot renovation includes installing a new MRI unit, a new Positron Emission Tomography/Computerized Tomography (PET/CT) unit, and multiple pieces of laboratory equipment for research.

NATIONAL – Craig Parker was sworn in as 2018 chairman of the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) at a ceremony during the association’s 63rd annual meeting. As chairman, Parker is responsible for guiding NAPA’s efforts to support the asphalt pavement industry. Parker is executive vice president of Silver Star Construction, in Moore, Oklahoma.

The company’s third-annual program awarded a combined $50,000 in college scholarships to students in construction-related fields who interned with construction companies for at least 2 months during the 2016-2017 school year or summer of 2017.
