NEW YORK (August 3, 2017) – During the first half of 2017, eight of the top ten metropolitan markets for commercial and multifamily construction starts ranked by dollar volume registered decreased activity compared to a year ago, according to Dodge Data & Analytics.  At the same time, metropolitan markets ranked 11 through 20 showed growth for nine of the ten markets, as smaller geographic areas are picking up the slack from the deceleration underway in those cities

WASHINGTON (August 1, 2017) — Nonresidential construction spending fell by 2 percent on a monthly basis in June 2017, totaling $697 billion on a seasonally adjusted, annualized basis according to an analysis of United States Census Bureau data released today by Associated Builders and Contractors. June represents the first month during which spending has dipped below the $700 billion per year threshold since January 2016.

CHICAGO (August 3, 2017) – A recent flash poll of construction companies on a webinar conducted by Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP (Baker Tilly) found that 91 percent of respondents  felt “not at all” or only “somewhat prepared” to implement Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) 606 which provides guidance related to revenue from contracts with customers.

NEW YORK (August 7, 2017) – The Dodge Momentum Index fell in July, dropping 3.3 percent to 135.0 from its revised June reading of 139.6. The Momentum Index is a monthly measure of the first (or initial) report for nonresidential building projects in planning, which have been shown to lead construction spending for nonresidential buildings by a full year.

RACINE, Wis. (July 31, 2017) — CASE Construction Equipment, Sonsray Machinery, the United States Fish & Wildlife Service and Team Rubicon teamed up for a heavy equipment operator training and improvement project at the San Diego National Wildlife Refuge. Sonsray Machinery provided four machines – two CX80C excavators and two SR210 skid steer loaders – and Team Rubicon brought in four instructors and nine volunteers from across the U.S.

PRINCETON, N.J. (July 26, 2017) — The Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA) announced the results of its quarterly CONFINDEX survey showing that the overall CONFINDEX reading declined by more than five percent during the second quarter and is up less than two percent on a year-over-year basis. Overall, CONFINDEX stood at 123 during the second quarter, after increasing to 130 during the year’s first three months.

KATY, Texas – Kobelco Construction Machinery USA continues its commitment to provide customers with quality products from its North American excavator production facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Increases in manufacturing capacity and several new hires are on the horizon as the facility ramps up to produce 1,800 units/year. Since opening in June 2016, the production facility has steadily increased output.
